When you hit the power button, the screen stays blank, and the camera won’t respond when you push any of the buttons.

The camera’s battery might be dead. Try charging your battery. You can do this by plugging the charger cable into the bottom of the camera. You can connect the charger cord to an outlet (using the provided adapter) or to your computer.

The battery might not be working due to cold temperatures. Try removing the battery and warming it up in your hands or your clothes.

It’s possible that the battery has been inserted the wrong way. Take out the battery, and insert it correctly.

The camera’s power button might be broken. To learn how to replace the power button, click here.

The screen appears dark even when the camera is turned on. This occurs when the screen is dark, but you can still see things faintly on the monitor.

There might be condensation inside your camera. Try turning off your camera and waiting until the device has adjusted to the temperature. When the camera is dry, turn it back on again.

If the above solution does not work, your camera might have a bad LCD screen. To learn how to replace the LCD screen, click here.

When you plug in the charger, the indicator light (located beneath the record button and to the right of the playback button) does not light up.

Check to make sure that the charger is plugged in. The connection may simply be loose. Go to the wall and make sure that the camera is plugged into the wall outlet. Then make sure that the charger is connected on the camera end as well.

It’s possible that the charger is broken. The Olympus VR-350 has its own charger, which can be found through a simple online search.

When you push the shutter button, the camera doesn’t take a picture.

The shutter can be pushed down either halfway or fully. When you push it down halfway, the camera will focus on the subject, but it won’t take a picture. In order to take a picture, the shutter button must be pushed down fully.

The camera might be in playback mode. In this mode, you can view pictures that you have already taken, but you can’t take new ones. To exit playback mode, simply press the playback button (the button on the back of the camera with the triangle next to it).

Your camera might be in sleep mode to save battery power. This mode is automatically activated after 3 minutes of inactivity. In sleep mode, the camera won’t take pictures even if you press the shutter button. To exit sleep mode, press any of the other buttons. For example, toggle the zoom button on the top of the camera. However, if your camera has been in sleep mode for more than 12 minutes, it will turn off automatically. In this case, simply press the power button to turn on your camera.

When you look through the camera’s playback mode, you do not see any stored photos. Any pictures that you have recently taken do not show up in playback mode.

Your SD card might be full. Try replacing your SD card, or upgrading to an SD card with more memory. The camera’s SD card slot is inside the battery compartment at the bottom of the camera. You could also send some of your pictures to another source, like your computer, and then delete those pictures from your camera’s memory.

The SD card may be damaged in some way. Damage can range from physical damage to file corruption. Replacing the SD card is the best solution to this problem.

When you take a picture, the camera’s flash does not light up and the picture is dark.

The flash might just be turned off. To turn it back on, open the shooting menu by pressing the left side of the arrow pad. Scroll up or down with the arrow pad to select the flash option (indicated by a lightning bolt with an arrow at its end). Use the left and right sides of the arrow pad to select any of the options listed except for Flash Off.

If the battery is low, the flash may not go off to save power. Try charging your battery before continuing to use your camera.

When you try to take a picture, the lens is not extended out of the camera. The camera will not focus.

Your camera might be in playback mode. The lens will not extend from the camera because this mode is for viewing photos as opposed to taking photos. To exit playback mode, simply press the playback button (the button on the back of the camera with the triangle next to it).

The lens box unit might be broken. To learn how to replace a broken or faulty lens box, click here.
