Camera will not respond to pressing the power button.

Your battery may be too low to operate the camera. Connect the camera to the charging port and charge the camera until it is fully charged. If it continues to not work, you may need to replace it with the Olympus SZ-12 Battery Replacement guide.

You may need to replace your battery. Take out the old battery, and replace it with a new one. Charge the new battery until it is fully charged. This should take about three and a half hours. Once the battery is fully charged, the camera should operate normally.

The camera has been exposed to excessive amounts of water and is now damaged. If you can only see some pictures, or if the camera is not working properly, you can get a new one or talk to an Olympus representative about your situation. It may be covered in your warranty.

The camera could have a faulty charge cable and affect the battery’s ability to properly charge. Examine the charge cable first before handling the battery. If your charge cable is defective, you will need to replace it.

Camera screen suddenly becomes black and turns off.

This problem could be due to the camera not being properly charged. Be sure the camera has been charged for the appropriate amount of time and has not been undercharged or overcharged.

In this instance, the zoom lens becomes stuck and will not zoom in or out.

The lens may have some debris stuck within it. If this is the case, you will need to clean it and try again. If not, then you may want to replace the lens.
