No matter what you do, you can’t get your camera to turn on.
If your camera will not turn on, the battery may just be dead. Plug in the battery and see if the battery will charge. Do not use any other charger besides one specifically made for the battery. If the camera will still not turn on after charging, the battery must be replaced.
If the LCD display is not working properly you may need to replace the screen. If the screen is not cracked then rebooting the system may fix the display.
If your camera won’t turn on, it could be the result of a faulty logic board. The logic board could be bad or there could be dirt or debris on some parts of the logic board. Use the logic board guide to clean it and to replace it.
Picture quality is not as high as it should be. Pictures might be grainy for example.
If your pictures are poor quality, grainy or blurry for example, it may be for a couple of reasons. One common reason for blurry photos is camera shake while the photo is taken. Make sure to hold the camera steady and press the shutter button slowly and evenly. You can also try resting the camera on a flat surface while taking the photo. If this is not the problem, it may be that your camera’s resolution is not set properly. Press the menu button on your camera to access resolution properties. Refer to the camera manual if you have trouble locating these buttons. Set the camera to the highest resolution.
If your photos are turning out too dark, the light settings on your camera may not be set properly. Pressing the menu button on your camera can easily solve this. From here you can access the lighting properties. Adjust the lighting for what is appropriate based on the light in the environment. Refer to the camera manual if you cannot locate these buttons. A daytime environment for example will require less light from the camera than a nighttime environment.
If not enough light is hitting the lens the shutter speed will be slower. If this is the cause of your poor quality photos, try using the camera’s flash or moving to a better-lit environment. You cannot get the memory card to stay in the camera
The Olympus Stylus 1010 is compatible with xD-Picture cards. The 1010 also comes with an adapter, which enables microSD 2GB-4GB memory cards to be used for capturing images. The Olympus Stylus 1010 will not accept other memory cards.
• Make sure the camera is turned off and slide open the cover that protects the memory card (where the battery is located).
• Do not touch the metal contacts on the back of the memory card, or expose them to debris.
• With the metal contacts facing down into the camera, gently insert the card into the slot until you hear a click into place
**If there is any resistance, DO NOT force the card into the slot. It may be facing the wrong direction. Remove the card, flip it over, and try inserting it again.
A damaged memory card has corrupted data that prevents it from performing properly. If the memory card is corrupted, stop using it immediately. Only if the card is readable, try retrieving files using an image recovery program. If the card is not readable, try retrieving files using a memory card reader. If images can’t be recovered, send the card to an Image Recovery Lab. If this does not work, you will need to buy a new memory card compatible with the Olympus Stylus 1010
As soon as you remove the camera from the charger, it shuts off
A dead battery can be caused by multiple issues. If the battery is not holding a charge, then the battery is faulty and must be replaced. Make sure the battery is inserted into the charger properly, if not the battery will not charge. Another cause of a dead battery is a bad charger, which will need to be replaced.

The lens won’t zoom in or out or retract when the camera is turned off
If the lens is stuck your battery may be bad. Try replacing the battery and then try holding the function button while turning on the camera.If the lens is still stuck remove the memory card from the camera and again hold the function button while turning on the camera.
