Nook will not turn on and does not respond to touch.

Locate the charging port at the bottom of the Nook. Plug in the micro USB cable to the charging port. Plug the power adapter into a wall socket. Let the device charge for 2-3 hours. Do not turn off the device while it’s charging.

If your Nook still isn’t charging, the problem may be the charger itself. Inspect the charger for any visible damage, such as visible wires or discoloration. Try replacing the micro USB charging cable or power adapter.

If your Nook still fails to charge, the battery may be the problem. Try replacing the battery using this Nook BNRV300 Battery Replacement Guide.

If your Nook does not power on after trying the previous instructions, the problem may be the motherboard. Try replacing the motherboard using this Nook BNRV300 Motherboard Replacement Guide.

Nook screen is unresponsive/frozen, or responds even without being touched.

If your screen is dirty, the Nook may not respond properly. Power off your Nook by holding the power button for about 5 seconds and select the “Power Off” option. Then wipe the screen using a soft and dry cloth. Hold the power button for about 2 seconds to turn the Nook back on.

If your battery is too low, the Nook may not respond properly. Try charging your Nook. Locate the charging port at the bottom of the Nook. Plug in the micro USB cable to the charging port. Plug the power adapter into a wall socket. Let the device charge for 2-3 hours. Do not turn off the device while it’s charging.

If your Nook screen is still malfunctioning, then you may need to restart the device. Hold the power button for about 5 seconds and select the “Power Off” option. Hold the power button for about 2 seconds to turn the device back on.

Wi-Fi symbol is not visible and device will not connect to the internet.

Your device may not connect to Wi-Fi because it has not been enabled. Click the ‘“n” home button. A menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. Select “Settings” and tap “Wireless” from the menu. Select the check box to turn on Wi-Fi, and choose a wireless network.

If your Nook still won’t connect to Wi-Fi, the signal may need to be reset. Hold the power button for about 5 seconds and select the “Power Off” option. To power on the Nook, press and hold the power button for about 2 seconds.

If your Nook still cannot connect to Wi-Fi, then there may be an issue with your router/modem. Power off your Nook by holding the power button for about 5 seconds and select the “Power Off” option. Then power off the router and/or modem. Power on the router and/or modem after 30 seconds. Then power on your Nook by pressing and holding the power button for about 2 seconds. If your Nook still cannot connect to Wi-Fi, check with your service provider for possible issues.

Nook battery will not charge even when connected to the charger.

If you Nook will not charge, the wall outlet may not function properly. Try moving the power adapter to charge your Nook at a different wall outlet.

If the Nook does not charge with the current micro USB charging cable and power adapter, the cable may be broken. Try using a different micro USB charging cable. As your device gets older, certain cables may fit loosely in the charging port. Make sure the charger fits snugly in the charging port.

Your Nook may have debris in its charging port which prevents it from charging properly. Look into the port and gently puff air into it to remove any dust. If this does not work, carefully pick out the debris. Then try charging your Nook again. Locate the charging port at the bottom of the Nook. Plug in the micro USB cable to the charging port. Plug the power adapter into a wall socket. Let the device charge for 2-3 hours. Do not turn off the device while it’s charging.

Buttons are broken or unresponsive and/or the screen will not respond.

If the buttons are unresponsive, the device may need a soft reset. Hold the power button for about 5 seconds and select the “Power Off” option. To power on the Nook, press and hold the power button for about 2 seconds.

To clean the “n” home button, wipe over it with a microfiber cleaning cloth. This button is internally attached to the front cover frame, and cannot be removed for cleaning/replacement.
