“When I press the On button, nothing happens.”
If no lights or sounds occur when attempting to turn on the phone, the battery may have simply run out of energy.
Fully charge the battery according to the instructions presented in the user guide.
Remove and re-insert the battery according to the instructions presented in the user guide.
Instruction to replace the battery can be found here.
Check that you are using a Nokia battery and charger compatible with your phone model. You can find compatibility information in your user guide.
If you have access to another battery and charger of the same type as yours, try substituting them to determine if the issue is with the phone, the battery, or the charger.
Charge the cellphone in an electrical outlet for several hours before continuing. If the phone does not turn on without the charger, but the cellphone does work while plugged in, the battery is defective and should be replaced.
If the phone displays a blue screen, it means that the screen might have been shifted from the original position or the screen might be damaged and will need a replacement.
Using our guide, find the cable that connects the screen to the logic board. Check the connections to make sure all the pins are touching.
Instructions to replace the LCD displays can be found here for the inner LCD display and here for the front LCD display.
If the screen is black or has a white screen with black lines running across it, the screen has been broken and will need to be replaced.
After concluding that the screen is in fact broken and needs to be replaced, you can still save your contacts to your sim card to prevent them from being lost if a new phone is required. Follow these steps:
- Press end call keyPress menu keyPress the down key one time and then press the enter keyPress the up key one time and then press the enter key 3 timesYour contacts are now being saved, give it a few minutes to finish transferring your contacts to your sim card
First make sure the phone is not in speaker mode during your call. To do this, when you are in a call, select the “options” button and scroll down to the “loudspeaker” option. Make sure that is turned off and proceed with the call.
If the call is still in speaker phone there may be dirt or debris in your pop port confusing the phone.
The pop port is the connector on the bottom of the phone, where the handsfree device and speaker are located.
Clean the pop port using a fine brush to remove anything foreign in the port. Then turn off the phone and turn it back on to see if the problem has been resolved.
If that doesn’t work you must take the phone apart to get full access into the pop port for examination. Follow our guide here to access the pop port and remove anything interfering with the port
If neither of the above two solutions worked you may need to restore your phone to factory settings. See factory setting below.
If none of these solutions fixed the problem you may need to take your phone into your nearest Nokia service point.
First make sure that your sound is turned on and not muted. The volume up/down key is located on the left hand side of your phone if the screen is facing you. Turn up the volume and see if that has fixed the problem.
If that does not work next check what phone profile you are using. Go into your “Settings” menu and select profiles. Select the profile you are using and choose to edit it. In the tones setting make sure the silent setting has not been selected and then save the profile.
If neither of these two solutions have worked you may need to update the device software. Instructions on how to proceed can be found below
If the “Handsfree” icon is displayed (meaning the phone reads you have a headset device plugged in) but nothing is plugged into your pop port there may be something interfering with your port.
If that doesn’t work you must take the phone apart to get full access into the pop port for examination. Follow our guide here to access the pop port and remove anything interfering with the port.
If your device says there is not enough memory to save media or receive messages, you may have to delete some items or move them to a memory card.
The following features in this device may share memory: gallery, contacts, text messages, multimedia messages, instant messages, e-mail, calendar, to-do notes, and Java games and applications.
Use of one or more of these features may reduce the memory available for the remaining features sharing memory.
For example, saving many Java applications may use all of the available memory. Your device may display a message that the memory is full when you try to use a shared memory feature. In this case, delete some of the information or entries stored in the shared memory features before continuing. Some of the features, such as text messages, may have a certain amount of memory specially allotted to them in addition to the memory shared with other features.
Make sure your device is running the latest software by following the instructions below.
" If you have tried everything to fix your phone and nothing has worked. "
Make sure your device has the latest software update.
Tip: It is always recommended to backup your data before updating your software. However, updating using your device does not necessitate a full backup.
Key *#0000# into your phone’s home screen or go to Device manager. Select Options > Check for updates. Follow the on-screen prompts until your update is complete!
If your device supports this feature and you use a high-volume or unlimited mobile data plan (or can connect to the Internet using Wi-Fi), you have the option of updating your device’s firmware without the need for any other equipment or software. The download size is 5-10MB.
If you have Windows XP or Vista, and a high-speed Internet connection, you can update your device’s firmware using Nokia Software Updater. This also requires a USB cable to connect your device to your PC.
Selecting your device on the Device software update page will display the updating options available to you.
Currently, there are no software updates for the Nokia 6085h.
If nothing else works, you can try resetting the phone to the settings the phone came from the factory with.
Factory settings means the settings in your phone will be restored to the way it was when you bought the phone. The default theme, ring tone, profile, call settings, etc will be selected. You will not lose the contents in your phone memory such as contacts, messages, notes, etc.
This is the sequence to do a factory reset: Menu > settings > Phone > Restore factory settings . It will ask you for the phone lock code, which, by default is 12345 unless you’ve changed it.
