The disc drive is either not ejecting or not accepting discs

  • Hold the eject button on the Wii console for 5 seconds. If that does not work:Unplug the power cord from the back of the Wii. Allow the Wii to sit without power for a minute. Re-plug the power cord back in and attempt to eject the disc using the eject button again. If that does not work:Hold the Wii up with the disc drive facing the ground. Attempt to use the eject button again, but be ready to catch the disc if it comes out.If the disc still does not come out, follow the steps for a jammed/broken component in the disc drive mechanism to get into the Wii and remove the disc yourself.

Use this link to view the guide to repairing the disc drive mechanism:

The Wii is not turning on.

The ac adapter could need to be reset. This can happen because of a surge of power.

  • Reset the adapter by unplugging the cord.Let the device sit for at least two minutes.Plug the cord back into the adapter and try turning the device back on.

The cord could have been damaged by a surge of power that overheated the wiring inside or a kink in the wire.

  • To test if the cord went bad plug a known working cord into the device.

A bad power supply could be caused by use over time or manufacturer error.

  • To test this plug a known working power supply into the device and test it.If the supply is bad, look at this guide on how to replace the power supply.

A wall outlet can go bad for many reasons. It could be something as simple as the circuit being overloaded.

  • Ensure that the outlet isn’t faulty by plugging a common household item in.

If any of the two boards are not fully connected with the motherboard or fully functional, then the console will not boot and one or the other card will need to be replaced.

  • Remove the cards.Reconnect the card.Try to continue to ensure the possibility greater for a faulty card.If the problem consists the Bluetooth or WiFi board needs to be replaced

If any of the other steps above do not seem to help or show different results, then the only option we have left for you is to replace the motherboard. The motherboard is faulty in the Wii so it will need to be replaced.

The case can be broken through a number of accidents. To fix this refer to our guide on the full case replacement at this link

When you insert the disc in the DVD drive the disc is not being read by the console.

  • Check to see if the disc is clean and make sure there are no scratches. If the disc is clean or has scratches, try another game to see if it works.

After cleaning the discs and trying other games and there is still an error we can determine that the issue is with the console itself.

  • The laser lens could be dirty. Try cleaning the laser lens.If the laser lens is clean and still does not work replace the laser lens.

Is your Wii warm to the touch when you insert a disk.

  • Shut down the Wii and let it cool off. After it is cool reboot the Wii and try again.

If the disc is spinning in the DVD drive, but the console can’t read it, then there may be a bad connection with the data cable.

  • Make sure the ZIF ribbon cable that goes from the DVD drive to the motherboard is connected. If the ZIF cable is connected and the disc is spinning in the DVD drive then you will have to replace the ZIF cable.

Unplug the Wii from the AC adapter and unplug the AC adapter from the wall outlet. Let it sit for a few seconds and plug them both back in.

If your Wii does turn on but does not show any video or audio then try to change the RCA connector to another TV input that you know functions and adjust the TV to that setting. If audio and video still does not work, continue below.

This could be broken because of pulling out the RCA cable the wrong way and tearing the connection or just because of normal wear with age. Buy a new cable and try turning on the Wii with your TV on.

Ultimately if all of these steps do not work, the only reason is that there is a defect in the Wii motherboard or port and the motherboard as a whole will need to be replaced.
