When the power button is pushed, the camera does not power on. LCD screen is blank or has a flashing red battery symbol.

The power button may require slightly more pressure to be applied to turn the camera on if the camera is older or used. This may be a result of debris or general wear from cyclic turning on and off of the device.

This device has an approximate battery life of 420 shots. The LCD should display a flashing red battery symbol if the battery pack is depleted enough to not be able to power up the camera. Attempt to charge to camera and try to power on. If the camera does not power on the battery pack may need to be replaced.

Camera does not respond when shutter button is pressed

The device will not take pictures or videos when it is in viewing (playback) mode. Take the device out of playback mode in one of multiple ways: by pressing the “c” button, pressing the shutter-release button, or pressing the “d” button.

Wait for the flash to finish charging. “Q” light will flash until the flash is fully charged, you should then be able to take a photo.

You cannot record movies when the A/C adapter. Remove the adapter to record video.

Insert a memory card that has sufficient storage. If memory card is already inserted, remove it and re-insert it correctly.

A lens error message appears on the screen when powering on

Take out the battery currently in the camera and replace it with a new battery. If it powers on without the error, then the battery was faulty.

With the camera off, place on a flat surface with the lens facing up. Inspect the camera lens for any dirt in the housing. Gently clean off anything dirt that would be in the crevices which could prevent the lens to fully extend.

With the camera off, place on a flat surface with the lens facing up. Inspect the lens housing making sure the housing is flush with the body of the camera. If there are any gaps visible, gently apply pressure on the housing until a click is heard.

Turn the camera off. Hold with one hand and gently move the lens in a circular movement. Do the same with the other section of the lens and you’ll hear a click when it pops in place. Next turn on the camera and pull and twist the largest ring while turning on and listen for a click.

Camera is functioning properly, but the display is not working.

The eyepiece sensor to the right of the viewfinder turns the screen on and off based upon the proximity of your eye. A smudged or dirty sensor may constantly trigger the viewfinder and turn off the screen.

When cameras are dropped or used in harsh environments, electronic connectors might become loose and not make proper connections. The LCD Ribbon is the main source of communication between the screen and the device. To fix this problem, follow this guide.

Flash fails to fire when a photo is taken.

Some modes do not enable the flash to fire when a photo is taken. Change to shooting mode to one where the flash is used.

Ensure that the flash is enabled, depending on the mode the camera is in. Auto flash may use the flash in some situations but not in others.
