Introduction
What you need
Step 1
Back Cover
- Power down your device.
- Use your plastic opening tool to wedge between the seams around the sides of the device. Pry open each side, one at a time. For some a finger nail may be best. The case comes up quite high to the glass.
- Do not pry near the USB port at the base of the device as you may crack the rear panel.

Step left out. ifixit.com video on Youtube show use of craft knife as first step to get into very tight case fitting, then the use of plastic pry tool to go around releasing the backcover.

I had very little problem prying of the back of my nexus 7 2012. Once you get the first corner done, the rest comes pretty easy.
I ended up using an old hotel keycard as a spudger and it worked fine.
I needed access to the cables that connect the touchscreen to the motherboard so that my touch screen would respond.
Worked like a charm!
