The LED status light, which is supposed to always be on, is not working.

Before opening the camera, make sure that the power cord is plugged in correctly on both ends. Also check that the cable is not broken.

Plug the camera into a computer and install Dropcam’s software to access its settings. In the settings, you will find an option for disabling or enabling the status light. Make sure that the status light is enabled.

If the cable is connected properly but the camera does not turn on, the motherboard may be causing the problem. Replace the motherboard using this guide.

The status light is blinking red and blue, and the device is not connecting to Wi-Fi.

Routers can only transmit signal a certain distance. Try moving the camera closer to the source of the wireless connection and see if the problem persists.

Objects between the Dropcam and the source of the wireless signal can interfere with its connection. Either move the Dropcam next to the source or move all objects between them away.

The camera appears loose or unstable in the mount.

The most common solution to the camera not being secure on the mount is that it’s not locked in place. When putting the camera in its mount, make sure the camera goes past the mounting clips, causing them to fully extend outward.

If the mounting clips on the side of the camera are not extending fully, they may be out of place or broken. Use this guide to remove the mounting clips. If the clips do not appear broken, try to remove them and place them back, tightening the screws. If the problem persists, replace the mounting clips completely.

The video feed on the computer is not showing any video.

If you’re not receiving a video feed, it could simply be a software issue because the camera is not synced to the display. Plug the camera into a computer and install Dropcam’s software. Follow the software’s instructions to connect your camera.

Before opening your camera, make sure that the power cord is plugged in correctly on both ends. Also check that the cable is not broken.

The video feed does not contain color, even during the day.

The night vision option may be turned on in settings. Plug your camera into a computer to install Dropcam’s software to access its settings. In the settings, you will find an option for disabling or enabling night vision. Make sure that this option is set to “Auto."

Plug the camera into power, and carefully remove the lid. Observe if any LEDs are not lit. If any LED is not lit, power down the camera and unplug it, then replace the LED using this guide.

The video feed appears imprecise or unclear.

The lens may have smudges or dust on it that can distort the video feed. Gently, take a clean cloth and wipe the outer portion of the camera lens.

The lens may have shifted and needs to be corrected to restore video quality. Remove the lens from the camera using this guide, then place the old lens back and tighten the screws to see if this fixes the issue.

The lens may be scratched or broken and may need to be replaced. Remove the lens using this guide, and replace the lens with a new one.
