Robot travels a short distance, stops, then asks user to clear its path

If the Botvac is having issues turning on, try placing the vacuum in the charging post. It may have run out of charge.

If charging does not seem to help the issue, or the Botvac turns on for a second and then completely runs out of charge again then, the battery may need to be replaced. For assistance in replacing a battery, please refer to the Neato Botvac D8000 Battery Replacement Guide.

Robot will not hold a battery charge or complete runtimes

Clean your robot completely to guarantee proper mechanical and sensor operation. Excessive debris build up, dirt, or dust can affect the robot’s ability to operate normally and can result in short run times.

Recalibrate your robot’s battery to ensure a full charge and completion of runtimes. Turn off any scheduled cleanings before recalibrating the battery. Recalibration will increase the runtime and capacity between charges.

If you establish that your robot’s battery is dead, replace the battery with a new one. To replace the battery, refer to the battery replacement guide. Recalibrate the battery once it is replaced to extend your battery life.

Robot fails to travel or more around the designated area

If the wheel looks to be loose, the wheel may be fixed by tightening the wheels with simple equipment or you may need to replace the wheel completely due to the wheel not working correctly. If wheel needs to be replaced, please refer to the Neato Botvac D8000 Wheel replacement guide.

Dirt bin may not be place correctly or may be full, which can causes the device to not turn on. It is a safety feature in the device, therefore clearing the dirt bin can be a solution, or check if the dirt bin is properly inserted in the robot.

The Robot is passing over surfaces and not collecting debris

Check the collection bin and see if the bin is full of dirt. If the bin is full, empty it out and clean the filter. If the filter is empty and looks damaged then the filter may need to be replaced. If filter needs to be replaced, please refer to the Neato Botvac D8000 Filter replacement guide.

Turn over the Robot so the bottom is facing up. Inspect the brush and remove any dirt or debris that may be obstructing the brush from collecting the dirt. If the brush seems damaged then it may need to be replaced. If brush needs to be replaced please refer to the Neato Botvac D8000 Brush replacement guide.

When the robot needs to charge or is finished cleaning it cannot find charging station.

It is important to remove the protective film from the Botvac’s screen and charge base. The robot may not be able to see your home or charging base if these films are left on.

Clean the two drop sensor windows on the bottom of the robot with a dry cotton swab. The sensors are the black rectangles right above the brush covering.

To ensure the Botvac can finish its route and make it back to the charging base make sure it is fully charged when beginning its route. Also relocate the charging base.

Make sure to choose an outlet that has a three feet clearance on both sides and in front of the charging base. It is important to avoid placing the base under furniture or in secluded places as it might interfere with docking. It is advised to place the base in a visible area so your Botvac can sense it from around the room.
