This troubleshooting page will help you diagnose problems with the MSI GT70 MS-1763.
The laptop will not respond or show any sign of powering up.
Make sure that the power adapter is plugged in and the charge light is on. If the light is not on and the adapter is plugged in, the adapter is faulty. Consider purchasing a replacement adapter.
Having a faulty battery will cause the computer to struggle on startup, or even not start up at all. If it powers up only when the adapter is plugged in, the battery is faulty and must be replaced.
Your computer fails to start up and takes you to the blue error screen.
Having excessive dust stuck in your vents or fan can cause the computer to overheat. This can be cleaned by using canned air to gently blowing the dust out.
Thermal paste is used to prevent overheating issues to the processor and heat sink. Overheating, due to thermal paste, is caused by the lack of paste, or air in between the two components. Use this guide to fix this issue and apply new thermal paste onto the heat sink.
You power the computer on and get no response, screen stays black.
If the back light on the LCD screen has failed, you will not see any images. In order to fix this problem, the entire inverter board and the connected LCD cable will have to be replaced. Replace them using this guide.
The keys on your keyboard continue to stick, or are not working.
If a key sticks in place, try removing it from the key board. Thoroughly clean the key area and check for other obstructions.

Your computer turns on, and immediately starts to beeps and freezes on a black screen.
If you are experiencing crashes normally or during memory demanding tasks, this means you have faulty ram that needs to be replaced. It can cause the PC to fail on startup and continuously beep. Install new RAM using this guide.
After powering on, the operating system will not start up.
If you are having issues starting Windows, this could be for a couple reasons. If your hard drive is going bad, you will notice things like slow load times, files and folder names will be changed or scrambled, or the operating system will not load. Replace the hard drive using this.
