Introduction

Note: If possible, make sure your battery is completely depleted before replacing it. If a lithium-ion battery is punctured during replacement, it may spark and create a fire.

What you need

Step 1

              Ear Cushion               
  • Place the iFixit opening tool between the soft ear cushion and the hard plastic of the speaker.
  • Pry the soft ear cushion away from the hard plastic using a moderate amount of pressure.
  • There is adhesive holding the ear cushion to the speaker so it may take a little patience to remove.
  • Applying too much pressure can damage ear cushion.

Place the iFixit opening tool between the soft ear cushion and the hard plastic of the speaker.

Pry the soft ear cushion away from the hard plastic using a moderate amount of pressure.

Step 2

  • Remove the ear cushion away from the speaker to completely detach it from the headphones.

              Battery               
  • Use the Phillips #1 screwdriver to remove the six screws holding the red plastic cover in place.
  • Carefully peel the plastic cover off the left cup to reveal the ear cup’s internal components.
  • There is some adhesive holding the red cover down so be careful as you remove it so it doesn’t break or crack.

Step 4

  • Use the JIS J00 screwdriver to remove the 3 screws that secure the black cover.

  • Remove the black cover to reveal the battery. The battery is attached to the back of the black cover.
  • The plastic cover of the headphones is connected to the battery housing by a wire connector. Be careful not to harm this cable by pulling the cap too hard during disassembly.
  • Undo the cable and remove the battery.
