Remove the back battery cover.
Remove the batteries currently in the radio.
Place Ni-MH replacement batteries or three triple-A batteries in the specified slots. The orientation of the batteries is specified in the battery compartment.
Replace the back battery cover and properly dispose of the old batteries.
Remove the batteries from the radio.
Remove the four screws from the backplate and gently open the backplate of the radio.
Use a flat head screwdriver to remove the faulty battery terminals from the backplate.
Insert new battery terminals and reassemble the radio.
Firmly grasp and remove the volume knob.
Remove the four faceplate screws.
Remove the four backplate screws.
Use a flathead screwdriver to pry apart the two faceplates.
Gently open the radio.
Grasping the volume control metal rod, gently pull to remove the circuit board.
Insert a paperclip through the front faceplate. Push out the speaker.
Note:The speaker is glued, it will take some force to remove the speaker.
Note: Observe the orientation of the speaker as it is removed, and install new speaker to face the same way as the old one that you are removing.
Remove the wires connecting the speaker to the circuit board with a soldering iron.
Solder the new speaker to the circuit board.
Place the new speaker in the slot where the old speaker was, making sure that the new speaker is in the same orientation as the old speaker.
Reassembly is opposite of disassembly.
Follow steps 1 through 6 of “Replacing The Speaker,” then:
- The button contacts are located on the circuit board. They are located by a silver x on the white plate.
Note: Avoid hand contact with the button contacts. In case of hand contact, quickly clean contacts with rubbing alcohol.
Use a dab of rubbing alcohol on a clean cloth or paper towel to clean off the button contacts and remove all debris.
Reassembly is the opposite of disassembly.
Remove all wires from the circuit board with a soldering iron.
Remove and dispose of old circuit board.
Solder all wires to new circuit board.
Reassembly is the opposite of disassembly.
Turn the Volume knob to the off position.
Firmly grasp and pull back on the volume knob. The knob should come off smoothly.
Replace the Volume knob. Be sure to orient the knob correctly so the replaced volume knob is still in the off position.
