Nothing is visible on the screen.

Pressing the buttons does nothing.
Make sure that you are pressing the buttons down completely.

The circular center button falls off of the phone.
The adhesive that holds the center button can deteriorate with time. A small dab of superglue will effectively hold it in place.
The plastic push bar under the screen breaks off.

My phone deactivates itself on its own.
Press the power button. It is possible that the phone is just sleeping and the screen has turned black to conserve battery power.

When I go to take pictures, camera mode is completely black.
