Introduction

This guide will demonstrate how to replace the back glass. No prior experience is required. However, this replacement will require tools to remove the needed components of the device. The specific device model in this guide is XT1962-1. Other model numbers include: XT1962-4, and XT1962-5.

Before beginning the repair, make sure the device is turned off and disconnected from an external power source. Gather the suggested tools listed below and a new Motorola Moto G7 back glass.

What you need

  • Use the iOpener or a heat gun around the edges of the phone to weaken the adhesive.

Step 2

  • Wedge a Jimmy in between the middle silver and back glass. Use iFixit opening picks to keep the device open.
  • Watch out for sharp glass if your screen is cracked.
  • Pry the back glass away from the rest of the device.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
