Phone is unable to take pictures using the rear or front facing camera on the phone.
A crack in the camera lense could cause images to be distorted. Examine the camera for any visible cracks on the surface of the lense. If cracks are present, refer to the camera replacement guide to resolve this issue.
There could be a smudge on the lens of the camera. Use a soft polishing cloth to wipe the smudge off the lens.
The phone dies quickly after being fully charged or does not charge at all.
The phone’s battery may be faulty if the phone does not hold a charge and dies quickly after charging. The phone may also die even though it says it is still charged. If these issues occur, the battery will need to be replaced. Refer to battery replacement guide to resolve this issue.
This may be the issue if the phone will not charge at all. The charging cable could be frayed or worn out, keeping it from charging the phone correctly. Check for any places where the wire is exposed or the cord is bent. If the cord is damaged, you may need to purchase a new charging cord.
The charging port at the base of the phone could be damaged. First, ensure that the charging cable works properly. Then, plug the phone in with the good cable. If the phone still does not charge, the charging port may need to be replaced. Refer to the charging port replacement guide.
A phone will not charge if the port it is plugged in to does not work . Try using other outlets to ensure that the outlet is not faulty. Insert the prongs of the charger completely into the outlet to ensure a good connection. If the outlet is faulty, charge the phone in a different outlet.
The power and volume buttons are not responsive when pressed.
Buttons may not respond if there is dirt or residue underneath them. To determine if this is the issue, open up the back of the case. If there is dirt, clean this out with a cloth and replace the back of the case.
First, make sure that the buttons are clean (see “Buttons are Dirty”). If the buttons are still not responding when pressed, it is likely that they need to be replaced. Refer to this button replacement guide for instructions.
User is unable to hear other person on the line.
Contact the other person and ensure that they have turned off the “mute” function on their phone.
If dirt has collected on the earpiece, one may not be able to hear through the phone microphone. The microphone is located at the top left corner of the phone. Obtain a soft polishing cloth and clean out this microphone.
If the earpiece appears clean, but sound is still fuzzy or nonexistent there may be internal damage. Refer to earpiece replacement guide.
The screen does not respond when touched. A part of the screen may be unresponsive, or the entire screen may not work.
Check the surface the of the screen. If there are any visible cracks, the screen may need to be replaced.
If the touchscreen is not responding and there are no cracks, the most likely issue is water damage. This can occur when the phone is exposed to any level of moisture, not just when it is submerged in water. This issue can difficult to diagnose but is the most common cause of screen unresponsiveness after cracking. Replace the screen to remedy the water damage.
