What you need

Step 1

              Place Phone               
  • Place the phone with the screen facedown on a flat surface.

              Latch and Back Cover               
  • Pinch the latch upwards towards the top of the phone.
  • Lift the back cover of the phone.
  • There are tabs on the bottom end of the battery cover that the cover pivots about.

Step 3

              Remove Battery               
  • Remove the battery by pressing on the edge of the battery from the top of the phone towards the bottom and lifting up.

              Screws in Rear Housing               
  • Remove the four 8.5 mm screws from under the battery cover with a T4 Torx screwdriver.
  • Remove the two 8.5 mm screws from the top of the phone with a T4 Torx screwdriver.

Step 5

              Rear Housing               
  • Using the plastic pry tool remove the rear housing from the rest of the phone. You may have to pry around all edges of the phone, not just the edge shown.
  • When you remove the rear housing, the rubber cover for the headphone jack/charge port may fall out. If not, remove it.

Step 6

              Spacers               
  • Remove the small black circular rubber spacer.
  • Remove the white rubber spacer.
  • These pieces are small and easy to lose, especially the black one. Set them somewhere safe!

Step 7

              Motherboard and Front Housing               
  • Gently remove the motherboard assembly from the front housing.
  • Now, the front housing is free to be replaced, as well as the cosmetic keypad.

Step 8

              Clips               
  • Remove the 2 clips from the sides of the phone, just below the screen with the pry tool.

              Button Circuit Board               
  • The circuit board for the buttons is now free to be removed and replaced.

              Front Speaker               
  • Pry under the display screen, around each edge until it comes loose from the circuit board.
  • You are removing the black plastic piece that holds the button circuit board. The piece has an aluminum frame around it. The two pieces will be removed together and don’t need to be separated.

Step 11

              Removing Framework               
  • Gently remove the plastic and metal framework of the phone by lifting it up.

              Removing Screen Ribbon Connection               
  • Use the prying tool to remove the connection between the display screen and the the main circuit board.
  • The ribbon is not removed. It is instead connected to the circuit board by a set of circuit connectors.
