Introduction
The thumbsticks are the central part of the controller that allows for most of your in-game movement. A wasted or broken thumbstick could reduce your performance for some of your favorite games.
Before using this guide, make sure to ensure that your thumbsticks are the ones wasted or broken because if it is stick drift, then this is not the correct guide for you to follow.
What you need
Step 1
Thumbsticks
- Remove the battery pack cover.
- If there are any batteries inside of it, remove them.

Step 2
- Place an iFixit opening tool between the seam of both the front and side plates.
- Move the tool repeatedly along the seam between the two plates until the side plate is wholly disconnected from the front plate.

Step 3
- Remove or pick a hole on the warranty sticker label to reveal the center screw.
- Remove all five screws from the backplate using a TR8 Torx screwdriver.

Step 4
- Remove the front plate from the controller.
Remove the front plate from the controller.
Step 5
- Pop-out the old thumbsticks and connect the new thumbsticks to the joystick.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
