The Surface Pro 2 will not respond or show any sign of powering up.

If you can’t get your Surface Pro 2 to turn on, try the following solution:

  • Force Restart: Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds. After the 30 seconds have passed , release the power button.

If forcing a restart does not solve the issue, you should consider the following:

  • If there is a response with the fans or lights on your device, continue to the display issue section located above.

  • If there is no response from your lights or fans, then continue reading.

Check the power connector LED light. If the light is off or flashing, you may need to replace your Surface Pro 2 power supply cable.

If your Surface Pro 2 turns off when while unplugged, or even when plugged in, you might want to try the following solutions to check if your Surface Pro 2 battery is functioning properly.

  • Shut down and completely charge your Surface Pro.

  • Remove the battery driver and install updates.

If none of the previous solutions work, then your battery may have failed. We do not recommend replacing the the battery for your own safety.

The Touchscreen won’t respond or fails to display.

If your screen is unresponsive to touch, or if it freezes during operation, or if it flickers constantly, or if it is cracked or fails to turn on, then carefully follow the steps below.

If your Surface Pro 2 is sometimes unresponsive to touch, but otherwise functions properly, try these possible solutions:

  • Clean any dirt and grease residue, which may have accumulated on the screen. This will make the sensors on your screen more responsive

  • Reset touchscreen calibration by the calibrate tool.

  • Install the latest updates by using the Update & security tool.

If your Surface Pro 2 screen flickers constantly, you might want to consider turning off the automatic brightness.

If your screen is randomly freezing, then you might want to try a full restart. If this does not solve the issue, you might want to consider a full factory reset, but remember to backup all of your important files first before proceeding.

No sound is coming out from the Surface Pro 2 speakers or audio accessory, or the sound is distorted.

If the speakers are not working properly, try the following possible solutions:

  • Remove obstructions from speaker surface

  • Adjust the volume

  • Install and update drivers

  • Run troubleshooters

If no sound is coming from your audio accessory, make sure that the accessory is working and connected properly.

The Camera will not record or has physical damage

If your camera is not functioning even though it has not been physically damaged, you might want to download and update your camera drivers.
