- Power off the machine at least one hour prior to starting repairs. Ensure the machine is completely cool to the touch.

Remove the upper shell
- Use a 5/16 inch socket or Phillips screwdriver to remove the eight screws securing the upper shell, four on each side.

- Lift the upper shell straight up off of the machine to remove it.

Disconnect the capacitor
- Grip the black and white wires by their connectors and pull firmly to remove them from the capacitor.
- During reassembly, install the white and black wires on the same terminals as they were installed on the original capacitor.

Remove the capacitor
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw securing the capacitor band clamp.

- Remove the capacitor.
- During reassembly, align the foam padding between the capacitor and the band clamp.
