If your mouse is acting erratically – the cursor jumps, skips or doesn’t move properly – try the following solutions before contacting Logitech Technical Support:

Sometimes hair or dust can block the sensor and cause the mouse to act erratically. Try cleaning your M125 mouse sensor with a soft cloth or a Q-tip. If there is an obstruction like hair or dust, this will usually remove it.

It is possible the surface may be the cause. Try moving your mouse on a piece of clean white paper. If the mouse works well on the paper, try using it on a mouse pad. Optical mice, like your product work best on mouse pads and non-glossy surfaces. Please avoid using your mouse on the following surfaces as they are harder for your mouse to track movements:

  • Glass or other transparent surfacesMirrors, metals or other reflective surfacesGrained wood or grooved surfaces.

If neither of these solutions resolved your problem, please consult the Knowledge Base article 17834 for instructions on contacting Logitech Technical Support.

This issue can be related to software issues such as settings in windows, or a hardware problem such as a worn spring.

Check to see whether your mouse functions differently in other programs. It is possible that the mouse button assignment has been flipped so that the left mouse button is acting as a right-click. Some programs do not have special actions for right-clicking. On the desktop, see if left-clicking will bring up additional options that a right-click would. If so, use the following steps to resolve the problem:

  • Bring up the search feature by pressing Windows Key +S.Enter “Mouse Settings”. The icon should already be highlighted, so press Enter to select it.At the top of the page is the option “Select your primary button”. If it is set to Right, right-click on the setting and select Left.

A hardware issue that causes mouse buttons to longer respond is a worn or cracked mouse button plate. Inspecting and replacing these parts is covered in greater detailed in our Logitech M125 Button Plate Replacement guide.

If your M125 mouse does not light up at the bottom after being plugged in or if your computer does not read that the mouse has been plugged in, please review the following instructions before contacting Logitech Technical Support.

  • First, plug your mouse directly and securely into a USB port on your computer. Please note: KVMS and hubs are not supported.Next, try plugging your mouse into a different USB port. Some USB ports do not read that the mouse has been plugged in, it is possible you may need to use a specific port.

If your device continues not to work after trying the above solutions, please consult with Knowledge Base article 17834 for instructions on how to contact Logitech Technical Support.

This can be a frustrating issue that can cause actions you did not intend. If you are single-clicking on an item and it is opened rather than simply being selected, try the following solutions.

Settings within Windows can sometimes be the cause. If the double-click speed setting is not customized to the user, it will not perform optimally. If the setting is too low, it might register to separate single-clicks as a double-click. It is also possible that your Windows machine is set to automatically register single-clicks as double-clicks.

Control Panel

  • Open the control panel and select ‘Mouse’.Change the double-click speed using the slider.Test to see if there are any improvements using the testing tool to the right of the slider, and do so until you feel that it has been properly calibrated to you.

 Click Settings

  • Use the Windows Search feature (Windows Key + S) and type Double-click to an item (single click to select) radio button is selected. The setting you are looking for should be pinpointed before typing out the entire line.In the General tab, ensure that the Double-click to an item (single click to select) radio button is selected.

Drivers are software that lets your Operating System know how to interact with peripheral devices such as your mouse. Please note: Faulty or mismatched drivers can prevent your mouse from working as it was intended. Often the best course of action is to reinstall drivers to ensure that the correct one is being used.

WARNING There are no longer official drivers offered by the Logitech support page for this product. Unless you have the original driver CD that came with the mouse, it is possible that following these steps could prevent the mouse from being recognized by Windows. While some sites might claim to have the driver available, such sites are not to be trusted as an official source.''

  • Use the Windows Run feature (Windows Key+ R) and type devmgmnt.msc.In the Device Manager, expand  Mice and other pointing devices.Right click on your mouse and select Uninstall Device.Unplug the mouse from your computer or laptop and wait 3 - 5 minutes before plugging it back in.Windows should recognize the device and install generic drivers.

Prolonged use can sometimes create static buildup in the mouse that can cause errant signals to be sent while clicking. To test if this might be the cause of the problem, follow these steps:

  • Unplug your Logitech M125 mouse from your computer or laptop.Repeatedly click both buttons for 30 to 60 seconds.Plug your mouse back in and see if the problem went away.

The cable is extended and not retracting back to the mouse.

Parts of the mouse may break down because of repeated use. Please refer to our guide Logitech M125 Power Cord Replacement on how to access and replace the retracting mechanism.

The cord coming into contact with various surfaces during use or unprotected storage during travel can attribute to an accumulation of debris inside the mouse. Please refer to our Logitech M125 Power Cord Replacement guide on how to inspect cable retracting mechanism .
