Introduction
Remove the auger bit before starting this guide.
This procedure involves removing both main shaft seals, which are stacked atop one another. Make sure you have two replacement seals ready.
What you need

Disconnect the spark plug
- Before you begin, make sure the engine is switched off and cool to the touch.
- Pull the spark plug connector straight off of the spark plug.

Remove the main shaft adapter
- Use a 1/8 inch hex key to loosen the set screw securing the main shaft adapter.

- Use a 1/4 inch hex key to remove the bolt securing the main shaft adapter to the main shaft.

- Remove the main shaft adapter.

Step 5
Remove the main shaft seals
- Use a set of snap ring pliers to remove the snap ring over the main shaft seal.
- Before you continue, make sure the main shaft is facing upright. If it isn’t, oil may leak out when you remove the seals.

- Use a seal puller to pry out the first main shaft seal.
- Remove the first main shaft seal.

- Use a seal puller to pry out the second main shaft seal.
- Remove the second main shaft seal.
Use a seal puller to pry out the second main shaft seal.
Remove the second main shaft seal.
To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
