The device is slow

If your phone is slow, it might be due to an old firmware update. Consider checking your settings to see if your phone is updated to the latest firmware.

  • From the home screen, swipe down the Status bar.Tap the Settings icon. In the General tab, scroll to and tap System updates.Tap Update LG software.Tap CHECK FOR UPDATE.If an update is available, follow the prompts to install the update. The device may restart during the upgrade process.Otherwise, the device software is up to date.

If your firmware is already updated to the latest firmware, your phone’s cache may be full.

Your phone might be slow due to lack of memory on your device. Consider clearing the cache as it will help open up more memory on your device.

  • From the home screen, swipe down on the Status bar.Tap the Settings icon.Swipe to the General tab.Scroll to and tap Apps.Swipe to the ALL tab.Scroll to and tap the app.Scroll to and tap Clear cache.

If the problem persists, consider moving on to the next step.

Your phone might be slow due the number of apps installed on the device. Consider uninstalling apps that you no longer use, as this will free up memory on your phone.

  • From the home screen, tap Play Store.Tap Play Store.Tap My apps.Tap the application.Tap UNINSTALL.Tap OK.The application is now uninstalled.

The phone does not charge when plugged into a power source.

A damaged charging cable or wall adapter will not be able to send power to your phone. Determine if these are faulty by trying a different charger or by testing the charger-in-question on another device.

The charging port can be damaged due to corrosion or a broken connection. If your phone is connected to a working charger but does not indicate that it is charging, the charging port is most likely damaged.

The phone does not boot up when the power button is held.

If your battery is dead and the phone does not charge, then it will not turn on even when plugged in. If the charging logo does not appear when connected to a power source, see the section above on troubleshooting charging issues.

If your phone indicates it is charging but will not turn on, it is likely that your battery is faulty. A faulty battery will not be able to hold a charge, preventing your phone from booting up. Test this by replacing your battery.

The audio does not work or the audio is distorted

Test your headphones / speakers with another source to ensure that your headphones / speakers produce sound. If you have Bluetooth headphones or speakers, ensure that they are properly paired with your phone. If you know for a fact that your headphones or speakers are working, then the phone is the culprit.

Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Configure your headphones / speakers into pairing mode by reading their prospective manuals on how to do so. Once your accessory enters pairing mode, you will see that device appear on your phone’s Bluetooth settings. Make sure that both devices are in close proximity and have an acceptable amount of battery life.

Your headphone jack may be covered in debris that will prevent your headphones from fully connecting into the port. Use pressurized air to clear out all debris from the headphone jack.

If you plug in your headphones into the headphone jack and fail to hear any sounds, you will need to replace your headphone jack. Please click here to follow our headphone jack replacement guide.

Touch screen does not respond to user interactions.

If there is physical damage on your touch screen, it will need to be replaced. Refer to our display assembly replacement guide.

Touch screens may not be responsive due to dirt build-up on the screen or on your fingers. Clean the screen with a dry lint-free cloth with clean, dry hands.

If your phone’s screen is turned on but does not respond to touch, there could be faulty touchscreen sensors and the screen will need to be replaced. Refer to our display replacement guide.

If your touchscreen does not appear to have physical damage but stops responding to your touch, it could be a software issue. First, restart your phone: press and hold the power button until the screen becomes black. After 1 minute, hold the power button again to power the phone back on.

If the touchscreen still does not respond, perform a factory reset. A factory reset will result in the loss of all data stored on your phone. It is recommended that you complete a backup of your information. To perform a factory reset do the following:

1.      Press and hold the Volume Down key and press and hold the Power key simultaneously. Release both keys when the Recovery Mode screen appears.

2.      On the recovery mode screen, press the Volume Down key to scroll to wipe data/factory reset. Press the Power key to select.

3.      Press the Volume down key to scroll to Yes then press the Power key to select.

4.      The Reboot System Now prompt is now highlighted. Press the Power key to restart the phone and complete the factory reset.

If a factory reset does not fix the issue, consider replacing the touchscreen. Refer to our display replacement guide.
