What you need

Step 1

              Remove back cover of the phone.               
  • Use your finger nail or flat pry tool to remove the back cover of the phone.

              Remove the battery.               
  • With the rear cover removed, now remove the battery from the casing.

              Remove the 12 Philips screws               
  • Remove the 12 Philips screws and place them in a safe place for reassembly.
  • Also remove the stylus from the left top of the rail area.

              Remove the plastic shield.               
  • Use your fingers or a flat pry tool and remove the plastic shield from the outer. If you use a flat pry tool be careful not to insert to far as it may cause damage. This will expose the motherboard.

Step 5

              Loosen the flex cables.               
  • The are flex cables that have to be detached from the mother board for the rear camera in the top middle of board. Also the front camera the top right and also the main motherboard cable at the middle bottom.

Step 6

              Remove the rear facing camera.               
  • Once you remove the flex cable the rear facing camera should be lose. Remove it and place it aside for re assembly.

Step 7

              Remove the motherboard.               
  • With the flex cables detached, remove the motherboard from the frame. Be careful as there is a small lip that inserts under the rear camera bracket. Easiest to loosen from the bottom and then lift the part near the volume button and lightly pull to the right and then up.

Step 8

              Removal of the speaker for reassembly.               
  • On the bottom right is the speaker. This needs to be removed and reassembled on the new digitizer. Use a small screw driver and stick it a small way into the speaker and lift up. Then use a flat pry tool to assist in getting under the connect there adhesive holding it in place. Once removed reassemble it to the new digitizer securely.

Step 9

              Remove vibrator, front speaker, and front camera.               
  • Remove the vibrator. Use a flat pry tool to gently remove the round vibrator. There is adhesive holding the vibrator and a small amount is needed to pry it from its location. Then reassemble on the new digitizer.
  • Remove the speaker from its housing on the top middle of digitizer. Use a pair of tweezers to gently remove the speaker. Once removed reassemble on the new digitizer.
  • Remove the front facing camera. Use a pair of tweezers or gently pull up on the front camera. Note there is an adhesive ring holding the camera in place. Also remove this ring for reassembly. Once removed place the ring in the new digitizer and reassemble the front facing camera.

Remove the vibrator. Use a flat pry tool to gently remove the round vibrator. There is adhesive holding the vibrator and a small amount is needed to pry it from its location. Then reassemble on the new digitizer.

Remove the speaker from its housing on the top middle of digitizer. Use a pair of tweezers to gently remove the speaker. Once removed reassemble on the new digitizer.

Remove the front facing camera. Use a pair of tweezers or gently pull up on the front camera. Note there is an adhesive ring holding the camera in place. Also remove this ring for reassembly. Once removed place the ring in the new digitizer and reassemble the front facing camera.

Step 10

              *** If needed remove the side rails and volume assembly.               
  • If the digitizer is not equipped the side rails and volume button you will need to remove them and reassemble them on your new digitizer. Use a flat pry tool and begin on either end of either side of the digitizer. Slowly and gently slide the pry tool between the rail and the digitizer lifting up.
  • Pay close attention to the right side as the volume button will come loose. Also you will want to remove the volume button flex cable. It helps to use a slight amount of heat over the cable to loosen the adhesive. Then use a flat pry tool to carefully remove the cable. Reassemble the flex cable, volume button and rails to new digitizer.

If the digitizer is not equipped the side rails and volume button you will need to remove them and reassemble them on your new digitizer. Use a flat pry tool and begin on either end of either side of the digitizer. Slowly and gently slide the pry tool between the rail and the digitizer lifting up.

Pay close attention to the right side as the volume button will come loose. Also you will want to remove the volume button flex cable. It helps to use a slight amount of heat over the cable to loosen the adhesive. Then use a flat pry tool to carefully remove the cable. Reassemble the flex cable, volume button and rails to new digitizer.

To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.
