Introduction

Water filters help to purify tap water by removing contaminants. They also help to improve the smell and taste of the water and ice dispensed from the refrigerator. The water filter should be replaced about every six months, depending on how much or little you use the water and ice dispenser.

Before beginning, be sure to remove any objects surrounding the water filter housing to allow for easy access.

The following instructions will guide you in replacing your water filter.

  • Find a replacement water filter based on the model number for your fridge.
  • You can also bring your old water filter to a store to get a suitable replacement that way.

  • For the best result, it’s best to buy the original filter that was made for the fridge as opposed to an aftermarket water filter.
  • Remove the water filter from the box .
  • Remove the cap from the water filter.

Step 3

  • Open the water filter bay in the top left corner of the fridge.
  • Remove the existing water filter inside. Or, if your fridge doesn’t yet have a water filter, remove the green cap instead.

Step 4

  • Angle the receiver in the fridge downward so that the filter is easy to plug in.
  • Firmly press the water filter into the receiver until it is snug and attached.
  • If the water filter falls out once you let go, you simply need to press harder into the receiver.

  • Shut the water filter cover.

  • Purge the system by dispensing water for about 2-3 minutes, or until you have cycled through approximately 64 ounces.
  • Your water should now be clean and crystal clear!
