Your phone will not turn on or shuts down as soon as you unplug it from the charger.
Before you look into the other options, make sure you are trying to turn on your device correctly. To turn on the LG Chocolate Touch VX-8575, simply hold down the “Power/End Call” Button on the bottom right-hand corner of your phone for 5 seconds. If the device does not turn on, then your phone might have one of the problems listed below.
If your phone will not turn on or shuts down as soon as you unplug it, then the battery is probably drained. Connect the phone to the charger and plug it in to a wall outlet. This may temporarily reverse some of the water damage. When you take the phone out of the rice, try turning it on again. If the screen still doesn’t work, the phone and screen are unrepairable.
The touch screen may be unresponsive because it is temporarily frozen due to a software mix-up. To fix the problem, simply remove the battery for a minute or so, then put it back in and restart the phone. You can restart the phone by holding down the “End Call” button until the screen goes black, meaning that it has shut down. Then hold down the “End Call” button again to turn the phone back on.
The touch screen can be partially responsive, where it recognizes your fingers on the screen, but pressing down doesn’t open up any applications. If the phone is locked, then the only side button that should work is the “Unlock” button. This case of unresponsiveness is intentional to prevent accidental button pressing when the phone is not in use. For the other buttons to work you must first unlock the phone with the “Unlock” button. Once the phone is turned on and unlocked, the other buttons should work as intended.
If the phone is powered on and unlocked, yet one or more of the buttons on the side of the phone does not work as intended, then it is possible that the button(s) may be jammed. If this is the case, you will need to remove the side buttons and replace them or unjam them.
When you try to press the buttons on the front of the phone (Send, Clear/Speakerphone, and Power/End), they do not work as intended.
If the phone is off, the Send and Clear/Speakerphone buttons will not work. The Power/End Call button should work as intended to turn on the phone in this case. If you are having trouble turning your phone on, refer to the first “Phone is Off” section under the “Phone Won’t Turn On” Heading to turn the phone on. Once the phone is powered on, the buttons should work as intended.
If the phone is locked, then the only button that should work is the “Unlock” button on the side of the phone. This case of unresponsiveness is intentional to prevent accidental button pressing when the phone is not in use. For the other buttons to work you must first unlock the phone with the “Unlock” button. Once the phone is unlocked, the other buttons should work as intended.
If the phone is powered on and unlocked, yet one or more of the buttons on the front of the phone does not work as intended, then it is possible that the front button(s) may be jammed. If this is the case, you will need to remove the front buttons and replace or unjam them.
